We revamped the home's layout to flow more easily for the family of five, and carefully modified it to create a more contemporary look throughout while carefully preserving the historic integrity of this lovely home.
The existing 90's kitchen was beautifully reminiscent of an English Country home, however to reflect the new owners' personalities, we chose to maintain its efficient layout while lightening it to create a bright, airy room. For a more tailored look, we removed carved moldings and refinished stained cabinets with fresh white paint. A custom range hood was designed as a focal point and finished off with a timeless glazed backsplash.
Sometimes it's more important to know what not to change in a historic home! We advised our clients to save this exquisite hand-painted wallpaper in the dining room. It became a cornerstone of the design for the rest of the room.
We kept the original faux finish in tact on the decorative stringer of this graceful walnut stairway to preserve the sculptural form of the spiral stain.
The built-ins in this elegant room were reworked to accommodate the owners' storage and entertainment needs by turning one side into a Dry Bar and enclosing both of them with custom mirrored doors. In a later project, we transformed a rarely used space into a charming Full Bar — take a look here.
